A feather for your thoughts

This is Rikash, another character belonging to Tamora Pierce. He's a Stormwing, which are these half-bird half-human things--kinda like harpies, except their bird parts are made of metal and they live off of the dead on human battlefields. They were dreamed into existence by a person so sick of war she wanted something horrible enough to scare people away from battle.
Rikash is pretty nice for a scary monster, though. Probably the best character in the entire Tortall-universe.

I had trouble with the metal feathers and wings and such...he also had really nice feet that got cut off by my scanner. But otherwise, he's a lot closer to my image of the character than my drawings of Numair are (note braids/bone things in hair). Oh! I also tried to make him look dirty, because...Stormwings don't really go in for hygene. Hope it worked. ;
